Kaj Chydenius, who died in 2024, has a place in the hall of fame of Finnish music. He helped lay the solid foundations of the avant-garde in art music. And when it came to the greatest of human emotions – love – Chydenius’s writing was on top form. His love songs – more than a thousand in all – include such evergreens as ‘Puhu minulle rakkaudesta’ (Speak to me about Love), ‘Syleily’ (The Embrace), ‘Nuoruustango’ (Tango of Youth) and ‘Sinua, sinua rakastan’ (I love you, you) from the film ‘Käpy selän alla’ (Skin, Skin). Now they are an essential part of our collective memory.
In this tribute concert, Chydenius’s unforgettable melodies will be performed by his son, Jussi Chydenius – known as the bass in the vocal group Rajaton – as well as actress and singer Oona Airola, who has shone in film roles such as Kaija Koo in Kaunis rietas onnellinen.
