Aaro Airola, or ‘Arppa’, has conquered the official Finnish charts and the hearts of fans with his original sound. Known for his energetic, improvisational gigs, Arppa’s narrative songs traverse past life and bygone worlds in a way that’s hard to fit into traditional genres; the songs, combining hip-hop, jazz, folk and rock, owe a debt only to Arppa himself.
Arppa, who released his self-published debut Laavalamppuja in August 2020, has established himself as a favourite in Finland. Having released four studio albums (Laavalamppuja, Kinovalon alla, Valeria and Muovipussi kummittelee), he has received five-star reviews, earned numerous Emma nominations and played to sold-out houses all over Finland. Now Arppa’s songs can be heard in symphonic arrangements by Mikko Pelli at the Sibelius Hall.
