Guitar ace and chameleon Marzi Nyman creates high-speed roller-coaster rides for his colleagues in the form of concertos, but this time the musical all-rounder is putting himself to the test. His Concerto for Electric Guitar and Orchestra turns the volume all the way up to maximum and beyond!
In the summer of 1977 David Bowie and Brian Eno went to West Germany to record the second part of the so-called ‘Berlin Trilogy’. The result was the album Heroes, an undisputed masterpiece of art rock, the experimental spirit of which inspired classics by both John Lennon and U2. Philip Glass composed an entire symphony inspired by Heroes: an obsessively pulsating, hypnotic wash of sound that ranks among the finest achievements of minimalist music. The concert is conducted by Ross Jamie Collins, a British-Finnish talent and protégé of Esa-Pekka Salonen.
