Symphonically Together Collaboration with Business
The Lahti Symphony Orchestra collaborates with businesses in a partnership known as ‘Symphonically Together’. The businesses represent a wide range of Finnish commerce – and work dispassionately to promote culture. The basis of the collaboration is knowledge and the sharing of human capital and commercial interests through the interaction all the members of the group. No distinction is drawn between recipients and benefactors, but all of those involved are equal partners who also work together in the area of communications. The aim of this communication partnership is the provision and application of positive fundamental publicity, which further helps the orchestra to achieve its goal and build up its desired image.
The Lahti Symphony Orchestra has received numerous prizes in recognition of its collaboration with commercial organizations. In 2003, for instance, the orchestra and Edita Oy were the first recipients of the Art & Business Award; other awards include the Markku Prize awarded by the Finnish Marketing Association (1991 and 2004), the Business Knight Prize of the Lahti Junior Chamber of Commerce (1991), an honourable mention (Vuoden huiput) in the Advertising and Graphic Design Competition (1992) and first place in the Gold Camera Award Competition, municipal administration category (USA) for its work with Avset Oy (1996). In 2002 the Lahti Symphony Orchestra was the only orchestra to be included in the book of brand names published by WSOY.
