Double bass player (substitute)

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra is planning a Double bass (tutti) audition in spring 2027. Now, we would like to invite interested candidates to guest with the orchestra in spring 2027 by submitting a video audition for it. The successful candidate will be provided with a four-string bass (with extension) for the duration of their guest period. Exact dates of working will be determined upon mutual agreement between the candidate and the orchestra.

Candidates who had participated in Lahti Symphony Orchestra’s previous video audition can choose to submit their old recordings again to this application.

All interested candidates should record the following material:

1st mvt EXPOSITION ONLY of any standard concerto without piano accompaniment

  • Beethoven Symphony No. 5, Mvt. III: mm. 128-218 (no repeat)
  • Mozart Symphony No. 40, Mvt. I: mm. 114-138
  • Brahms Symphony No. 2, Mvt II: mm. 82-95
  • Brahms Symphony No. 2, Mvt IV: mm. 244-279

Salary: €  3104-3392 per month.

The Lahti Symphony Orchestra is a dynamic, innovative orchestra maintained by the Finnish city of Lahti. In addition to offering audiences a wide range of concerts, the orchestra is active in touring, recording and education. Its home is the Sibelius Hall, famous for its magnificent acoustics.
