Sinfonia Lahti’s Aho recording has a chance at two Grammy nominations
Sinfonia Lahti’s recording of Kalevi Aho’s Symphony No. 17, conducted by Erkki Lasonpalo, has advanced to the first-round voting stage of the 2027 Grammy Awards in two categories.
The recording is being considered for Grammy nominations in the categories Best Contemporary Classical Composition and Best Orchestral Performance.
The first round of Grammy voting runs from October 12 to October 22, 2026. Voting is conducted by voting members of The Recording Academy, who are music industry professionals.
The nominees for the 2027 Grammy Awards will be announced on November 16, 2026. The final round of voting will take place from December 10, 2026, to January 7, 2027, and the awards will be presented on February 7, 2027.
“It is wonderful to see Kalevi Aho’s music and the work of Sinfonia Lahti recognized in such a significant international context. Being included in the Grammy process in two categories is already a highly meaningful acknowledgment. We have received many different recording awards over the years, but a Grammy is still missing from our collection,” says Managing Director Maija Kylkilahti.
